At SunnyDays Pediatric Therapy, every child’s program is individualized. In addition to DMI, Electrical Stimulation, and Reflex Integration, we integrate a variety of specialized modalities to support sensory processing, posture, strength, and movement learning. Every modality at SunnyDays is chosen with intention — to support your child’s comfort, progress, and confidence through a therapy plan that’s truly individualized.
ADDITIONAL MODALITIES
Comprehensive tools that complement and enhance our hands-on therapy approach.
Functional Vision Rehabilitation
- What it is: Therapeutic activities incorporated into our sessions to strengthen how the brain interprets and uses visual information — especially important for children with cortical visual impairment (CVI) or poor eye–body coordination.
- Benefits: Improves visual attention, eye tracking, head control, and motor planning, reaching and functional play.
- Best for: Children with CVI, poor visual tracking, or difficulty coordinating vision with movement.
Whole Body Vibration
- What it is: A gentle vibration platform that provides sensory and proprioceptive input to activate muscles and improve body awareness.
- Benefits: Increases muscle activation, tone regulation, and postural control through enhanced sensory feedback.
- Best for: Children with low tone, poor body awareness, or motor delays. Also great for children with high tone/spasticity.
Trunk Orthoses (TheraTogs, SPIO Suits, and Other Compression Garments)
- What it is: Specialized garments and orthoses that provide gentle compression and alignment support for the trunk and limbs.
- Benefits: Improves posture, balance, and stability while enhancing sensory input and body awareness.Best for: Children with postural instability,
- hypotonia, or difficulty maintaining midline alignment.
SMO/AFO Orthotic Recommendations
- What it is: Customized lower-extremity orthotics prescribed in collaboration with orthotists to improve alignment and gait.
- Benefits: Supports stable standing and walking patterns while improving foot and ankle control.
- Best for: Children with poor balance, hypermobility, pronation, or weakness in the lower extremities.
Sensory Integration
- What it is: A therapy approach that helps children process and respond to sensory input in a more organized way.
- Benefits: Promotes regulation, body awareness, and participation by helping children interpret touch, movement, and sound appropriately.
- Best for: Children with sensory processing difficulties, regulation challenges, or decreased attention to movement activities.
Total Motion Release (TMR)
- What it is: A movement-based technique that uses the body’s natural symmetry to release tightness and restore balance.
- Benefits: Improves flexibility, range of motion, and overall body coordination without pain or forceful stretching.
- Best for: Children with asymmetries, tightness, or restricted movement patterns.
Neurodevelopmental Techniques (NDT-Based)
- What it is: A framework for analyzing and facilitating movement patterns based on normal developmental milestones.
- Benefits: Encourages efficient movement strategies and supports improved motor control for functional activities.
- Best for: Children with neurological conditions, abnormal tone, or difficulty achieving age-appropriate motor skills.
